The Competition

1.1) The Fantasy Chili Bowl will be an FPL based tournament hosted by the FCB Committee through the use of Fantasy Football Scout community articles and Google sheets.  There will be 24 “franchises” of 8 players each.

1.2) The decision of the FCB committee is final in everything concerning the tournament, though any decisions can be disputed in a respectful manner

Regular season

2.1) Teams will be drawn randomly into four conferences of six teams.  The draw will take place at some point during the weekend commencing 12th November, with the fixtures being confirmed on Wednesday 16th November.

2.2) Teams will play each other in their conference once in a round-robin format (so five games in total per side)

2.3) Similar to American sports leagues, teams will be effectively awarded 1 point for a win, half a point for a draw, and no point for a loss, though league table will be shown in a W-L-D format, rather than a football-style points format.

2.4) Teams tied on “points” during the group stage will then be ranked on ‘FPL Points For’, if they are still tied they shall be ranked by their head to head record.

2.5) The top 2 teams from each conference will qualify for the play-offs, which will comprise of 8 teams

The Play-offs

3.1) The fixed brackets for the play-offs will be drawn shortly after the regular season is concluded. The four conference winners will be seeded 1 to 4 based on total FPL points in the regular season (regardless of win/loss record).

The four runners up will then be drawn to play one of the seeds who weren't in their conference.

The bracket will be fixed so if the seeds all win, the semis will be 1 v 4 and 2 v 3.

i.e, the play-offs will be:

Quarter finals:
Match 1: a runner-up @ seed 1
Match 2: a runner-up @ seed 4
Match 3: a runner-up @ seed 2
Match 4: a runner-up @ seed 3

Semis:
Match A: winner match 2 @ winner match 1
Match B: winner match 4 @ winner match 3

Final (the Texas Chili Bowl):
winner match A v winner match B

3.2) All play-off matches will be scored the same as regular season games.  In the event of a tie, the highest captain score shall determine the winner.  If the actual captain is benched, the captain shall be deemed to be the player with the lowest FPL I.D who is not benched.

Matches

4.1) Each week, a team shall select their starting 6 by having their captain email fantasychilibowl@gmail.com stating which 2 members of their squad will be on the bench that week.

4.2) The submission deadline for team sheets each week will be 11:59pm UK time the day before the official FPL deadline.

4.3) If a captain fails to email the FCB mailbox by the given deadline, the two players with the best FPL ordinary rank on completion of the previous FPL gameweek shall be deemed as the players benched.  If a deadline is missed twice, the team and/or captain may face further sanctions as decided by members of the FCB committee who are not playing in the tournament.

4.4)  Scoring in matches will consist of the aggregate score of the starting six players from each team.

4.5) Any players using their Bench Boost or Triple Captain chips will have their score manually adjusted so their final individual score will be the score they would have got had they not played the chip.  There will be no manual adjustments for anyone playing their Wildcard chip, or the All Out Attack chip

4.6) Each transfer “hit” taken will count as -4 points, as per normal FPL rules

Teams

5.1) Teams will be lead by a captain who will be responsible for registering their teams with the FCB committee, and communicating when necessary.

5.2) Each captain must have submitted their full 6-player squad by 11:59pm UK time on Tuesday 15th November.  The details needed for each player are their FPL I.D and FFS username.  People who have never posted on FFS and/or are not current registered as an FFS user may not be selected as players.  All players selected must have agreed to be part of your team.

5.3) Players' freedom to participate is governed by their FFS status. Banned FFS members will be suspended from the field of play for the duration of their FFS ban. Teams can apply to the FCB committee for dispensation to replace members who are banned or suspended but any player replaced cannot return to their old team or join another team during the competition.

5.4) In exceptional circumstances, such as ill health or ‘going Rickardinho’, a player may be deemed to have retired from the game and the team may call up a new uncapped player, with permission from the FCB committee.

5.5) Once a player plays for one team, they may not play for another under any circumstances.

5.6) Any behaviour by a team that brings the competition or the FCB committee into disrepute can be docked between 5 and 100 points in their next game depending on the severity of the offence.

Dates

6.1) The full schedule is as follows:

ALL-STAR GAME AND OTHER AWARDS

In each regular season fixture, players will be awarded APS (all-star points system) – awarded the same way BAPS are done in FPL (i.e. 3 points for first, 2 for second, 1 for third) – for equality, this will include benched players.

After 4 games, the 6 top APS scorers in Conference A and B combined will play the 6 top APS scorers in Conference C and D combined in the All-star game (any ties decided by total FPL points in the first 4 weeks, then best OR if still a tie) – this will take place in the midweek GW (GW16) where no FCB fixtures are scheduled.

APS will also be awarded in the all-star game and in the final round of FCB fixtures (GW17). The person with the most total APS will then be awarded the title of FCB MVP (any ties decided similar to before).

There will also be weekly and seasonal individual and team sportsmanship awards – details of these will be released in due course.

Each regular season week there will be an official team of the week, which will consist of the overall 6 top FPL point scorers of the week who played, and the overall 2 top FPL point scorers of the week who were benched.

And finally, there will be a captain’s award for the person who was best at selecting which players to bench over the regular season - the 8 players in their squad will be assigned points from a weekly top score of 8 points, descending a point a position to 1 point for the weekly low scorer.  The number of points the benched players get will be the captain's score for the purpose of his award, with the lowest scorer overall after the regular season winning this prize.
